I worked at Hickstead house in Sussex as a house keeper for a year in 1990. It holds world class world class equestrian events like Chatswood too.

Me too… 🙂 I remember asking my Dad if I could have a horse when I was about 6.. He said and where would we keep it.. I said it could stay on the lawn.. As we had just moved from a very condemned small cottage where we all slept in the same bedroom.. Including Mum and Dad, because the other bedrooms floor was unsafe to a brand new council house in our village.. Dad had picked one with a huge corner garden that he had laid a lawn . We had a massive beech tree which I said we could tie it up too.. 🙂
I never lost the love of horses.. And had farming friends who I would cadge rides from when I followed them for miles on foot just to get to ride for 10 minutes.. 🙂 when they let me.. 🙂 Big smiles as the memories flood back 🙂

Enjoyed that adventure through Chatsworth House gardens Sue, was interesting to follow your link to the redesigned Trout stream, a great enterprise and full credit to the English people, who can only achieve such beauty, through their love of the land and Nature.
